2nd Trimester!

Second trimester here I come! Evidently with the onset of the “growth and maturation” stage for our baby, my tummy is going to grow right along with him/her! I didn’t show this much with Rock until I was 24 weeks pregnant! And looking back at my previous blog, I didn’t wear full-blown maternity clothes until I was 19 weeks pregnant! Are you kidding me?!. I wore maternity clothes to work at 10 weeks with this pregnancy (granted they were cute summer leggings and not full-blown maternity pants and top, but still maternity none-the-less). The full-blown maternity clothes came out last week when I finally announced I was pregnant at 12 weeks…I celebrated by releasing the bonds of the Bella Band and accepting my place in maternity clothes for the next 28 weeks.

Only two more weeks until my next doctor appointment (at 16 weeks) and then the next appointment should be my 20-week ultrasound where we get to see whether we’re having a boy or a girl (along with all of the growth measurements, etc)! We will be praying for a healthy baby and excitedly anticipating any gender clues we will discover!

Baby is the size of a peach already (2.9 inches, .81 oz) and forming teeth and vocal cords!

Heartbeats & Happy Times

Second trimester here I come! I’m 12 weeks pregnant now and hope that my nausea decreases in the coming weeks and my energy increases. The first trimester was not easy, but I know it could have been a LOT worse (although Phil might disagree)!

Our prayers were answered last Friday as we had a successful doctor appointment where Phil, Rock and I, all got to hear the baby’s heartbeat (it was Rock’s first time!). The heartbeat was 165 bpm. Rock seemed to enjoy the doctor’s office because he got to run around with a baby doll (which he loved) and play on the doctor table with mommy (he liked climbing on the step at the bottom of the table). Who knows…maybe we’ll have a future doctor on our hands! (The photo was too cute not to post.)

We also had a safe, but very long, drive to Wyoming to spend Easter weekend with my dad’s family. Poor Rock did not enjoy the car ride, but we all enjoyed ourselves once we arrived. We were able to spend the entire weekend with LOTS of family and got to see great friends too. Plus it was fun to see Saratoga again and explore the town because we haven’t been there in a few years. We got to announce my pregnancy to family Friday night too. Everyone was excited…but not surprised. Evidently my round tummy was a dead giveaway hours before we told everyone!

I also told my work and family and friends early this week, which has been SO fun! I was thankful and overjoyed at all of my coworkers’ responses and even more overjoyed by our friends and family members’ responses! Everyone is so excited and I even know a few friends who are due right around me, so it will be really fun to share this experience with them!

Our newest addition is the size of a plum already and is nearly done with all of the critical development of organs, etc. The second trimester will be mainly “growth and maturation.”

Praying for 12-week Appointment...

We’ve got a lime (the baby is 1.6 inches, .25 oz)! We started a new parenting class this week for toddlers which we’re excited about and we’ll be leaving for Wyoming for Easter tomorrow! We also have my 12 week doctor appointment tomorrow which Phil and Rock will be attending with me…so we’re praying for a happy heartbeat and a safe drive to Wyoming! With good news at our doctor appointment, we will then be ready to tell lots of family and friends our news this weekend. I also plan to tell work next Tuesday when I get back from vacation. Now we just need to figure out HOW to tell everyone…hopefully in an exciting way!!!
