Here we go again...

Best Valentine’s Day gift ever…a positive pregnancy test! Thank you God (and Phil) for making our dreams come true, and on such a fun holiday to find out. I’m in love already!

Phil and I have always known we wanted more than one child, but we didn’t know God’s plans for us. I was an only child and always dreamed of having a sibling, so we wanted to make sure to give that blessing to Rock (and any additional children we had). I also knew I wanted to wait until Rock was at least one year old before we started trying for a second baby. That way, I could breastfeed for one year and then start to think about sharing my body again with a second baby. When Rock turned one, I definitely knew I needed a few months for my body to be my own again, but that desire quickly subsided as I continued to see what a blessing a child is…every day. Fairly quickly God started working on my heart to have a second baby. So, again, over Christmas and New Years Phil and I started talking about a second baby. I had already stopped birth control and was still taking a prenatal vitamin, so we knew all we needed to do was decide when to ‘try’. That didn’t take long. We LOVED Rock’s October birth date and figured out we would need to conceive in January to give baby number two the same great birth month…so that’s what we did. And God worked His magic! WE GOT PREGNANT!

The positive test makes me wonder if Rock knew something we didn’t…a few weeks ago he was sitting next to me on the couch and saw a sliver of my belly exposed. He proceeded to lift my shirt another few inches and pointed to my tummy, said “baby.” That wasn’t too shocking because his daycare lady’s daughter was pregnant and was watching all of the kids while her mom was on a missions trip. But then Rock kissed my tummy! I had barely heard him say the word baby before, let alone know that a baby grows in my belly…but then to go one step further and KISS my belly! Where did THAT come from?!. I now know it came from…God (and our amazing son, Rock).

Phil already called me on his way to work this morning to tell me how excited he is for Rock to be a big brother. Phil (and I) know what an amazing blessing Rock has been for us, and we can’t wait for him to bless his new little sibling.

Thank you God for the wonderful surprise of a positive pregnancy test this morning! And for letting me surprise Phil with the news in his Valentine’s Day card He was thrilled!!!

The baby is the size of a poppyseed right now, just a teeny ball of cells.
